Funds Distribution/Results for 2008

In 2008, the members of the Homes For All Pets Coalition (HFAP) were invited to participate in the first Pins for Pets Fundraiser. In order to be eligible to receive funds from the event they were required to participate in the process, which included attendance at meetings and a presence of two volunteers at the event.

The following organizations were represented at the first two meetings held at Chuck & Don’s Corporate Office:
 - Animal Ark
- Cause for Paws
- Feline Rescue
- Minnesota Humane Society
- Minnesota Spay Neuter Project
- Pet Haven
- RAGOM
- Red Lake Rosie’s Rescue

It was unanimously agreed at these meetings:

- That all above organizations would be eligible for funds raised by the event.

- That all HFAP organizations would use a grant request process (rather than funds going to one cause, program, or organization within HFAP).

- As part of the grant application process, there would be a requirement to report on usage of the funds to be submitted to Pet Haven Inc. of MN by July 1, 2009.

- That Pet Haven Inc. of MN would be the fiduciary agent of fundraising and grant distribution.

Grant requests were due to Chuck & Don’s by 9/01/08. The following HFAP organizations submitted grant requests for consideration and scoring:

- Cause for Paws
- Feline Rescue
- Minnesota Spay Neuter Project
- Pet Haven
- RAGOM
- Red Lake Rosie’s Rescue

Grant applications were scored by Dana Andresen of Chuck & Don’s Pet Food Outlet. At the final grant review/funds distribution meeting (Pins for Pets Grant Review Committee - PFPGRC) held on 9/25/08, the original eight HFAP organizations were represented, with the exception of Minnesota Humane Society. All organizations were provided copies of all six grant applications, score sheets, and the suggested funds distribution summary. After an open review and discussion of the six submitted grant applications, the final funds distribution summary was arrived at by all PFPGRC members in attendance. All organizations also agreed that grant applications would be retained and reviewed openly for future reference.
